With York's buses going green and fares still capped at £2, we've compiled a handy guide on travelling to your nearest Digital Cafe support session by bus!
Our Digital Cafes are all served by local bus routes, making it super easy to visit a Digital Cafe if you cannot travel by car - plus travelling by bus helps us reduce emissions and one full double decker bus can take up to 75 cars off the road!

£2 fare cap on majority of bus operators until December 2024

To help people get around, and to ease pressures of funding travel, you can take a single journey on the majority of bus routes in the country and not pay more than £2. If you currently pay less than £2 already, then you don't need to worry - it'll stay the same.

Visit your local bus operator's website to find out more.

Top tips for travelling by bus to your next Digital Cafe

Travelling by bus has never been easier, but if it's your first time we can understand how daunting it can be! Here's some top tips for when you next travel by bus.

Before travelling, make sure to plan your route and know which bus you need to catch. You can use the information above to find the nearest bus stop, and then research departure times using the bus operator's website or app.
Bus stops are clearly marked out by signs, but be aware multiple buses may stop at that stop so check the destinations before you board. Be there between 5-10 minutes before it's due time so that you don't miss it!
When your bus is coming, raise your arm to the side to let the driver know that you want to get on board, and make sure that the driver has seen your signal (the drivers will often indicate), before you lower your arm. Once it's pulled up, let any passengers who want to get off the bus step off before you board. If you find it difficult to get onto the bus, the driver can lower the bus for you - however, at bus stops without a raised pavement, you may still have to step up to get on.
Ask the drivers for the ticket you want, and which stop you want to get off at. If you are travelling with First York, you can Tap on using your card and you don't need to tell your driver the destination (just remember to Tap off). Don't forget that your driver is there to help, so if you're unsure of if you have any questions, ask!
Take a seat, and enjoy the journey! Make sure you press one of the 'STOP' buttons to let the driver know when you want to get off.
