Keeping Digital Foundation – Digital Inclusivity Support Team

The Keeping Digital Foundation are now providing digital inclusion support services, a network that supports the residents of York to get online. We’re looking for a team of volunteers to help us provide support to local residents, as we come together to help everyone gain skills to access vital online support and services.

Our volunteers help us provide our important Digital Cafe service. Keeping Digital Foundation host monthly support services at various libraries and community spaces across the city, where residents can drop by to ask questions, or get help setting up online devices such as laptops and phones.

Our network is vital in helping the residents of York get online. With many services and support information moving online, our service is hugely beneficial in helping people to get online.
With Digital Cafes running in Tang Hall, Chapelfields, Heworth, Huntington, New Earswick, and in the York City Centre, face-to-face digital inclusion support is getting even more local for York residents.

All volunteers must be 16+ and live in the city of York or surrounding areas. You do not need to be an expert in IT, but we do ask that you have basic IT knowledge (you're able to operate a PC/Laptop, install updates, use basic software).

A DBS check is required for all of our roles – this will be completed once an application is accepted.

Digital Making Activities – Gwiddle Club Mentors

Volunteers who provide support, guidance, and encouragement young people so they can complete their projects and develop their skills. Many mentors do not have technical skills, but that doesn’t stop them from having a huge impact on the young people at our Gwiddle Clubs. Anyone who is passionate about technology and shares the Gwiddle spirit can be a mentor! The role of a mentor is not the same as that of a teacher or lecturer. Mentors help young people work through problems and encourage their efforts rather than directly delivering solutions.
We're looking for York, Northallerton and Harrogate based volunteers to join our volunteering team!
