In September 2022, we announced the launch of our first Digital Cafe, providing free face-to-face digital support helping residents stay connected. A year on, we look back on the progress we have made.
Birthday hats at the ready, its been one year since we launched the first Digital Cafe service in York, and since then we've opened up a further four and supported residents on a range of issues!

Tang Hall Digital Cafe - September 2022

Tang Hall was home to our first Digital Cafe which officially launched on the 24th of September 2022 - marking a huge achivement in our partnership with 100% Digital York and our dedication to improving digital inclusion across the city of York.

Tang Hall Digital Cafe continues to run on the last Saturday of every month, from 10am-12pm, offering a space for residents to bring their devices and/or ask any questions about using them and getting online. Residents can also receive support from the York Databank at this Digital Cafe, helping low-income residents stay connected through free mobile data.

Sanderson House Digital Cafe - December 2022

Sanderson House was the second Digital Cafe to open on the 1st of December 2022, bringing in-person digital inclusion support closer to people in Chapelfields.

Despite being temporarily closed for refurbishment, the Sanderson House Digital Cafe is due to reopen in November and will continue to run on the first Thursday of every month, from 10am-12pm. Residents can get Databank support, ask any questions about their devices, and join for free digital workshops.

St Wulstan Digital Cafe - April 2023

With the support of the City of York Council, the third Digital Cafe opened up at St Wulstan's Church on the 25th of April 2023, bringing digital inclusion support closer to Heworth residents.

St Wulstan Digital Cafe continues to run on the last Tuesday of every month, from 2pm-4pm, offering a space for residents to bring their devices and/or ask any questions about using them and getting online. Residents can also receive support from the York Databank at this Digital Cafe, helping low-income residents stay connected through free mobile data. St Wulstan is also becoming home to our e-safety coffee sessions, offering a space for parents to learn more about digital safety over a warm drink.

York Stadium Digital Cafe - May 2023

We launched our fourth Digital Cafe at the LNER Community Stadium in Huntington on the 13th of May 2023, with the venue having amazing transport links through the York Park & Ride at Monks Cross, and parking options across the site.

York Stadium runs on the second Saturday of every month, from 10am-12pm, and residents can bring their devices and/or ask any questions about using them and getting online. Residents can also receive support from the York Databank at this Digital Cafe, helping low-income residents stay connected through free mobile data.

St Sampsons Digital Cafe - July 2023

Our latest Digital Cafe is at St Sampsons Centre on Church Street in the York City Centre, having launched on the 25th of July 2023. Centrally located means this Digital Cafe is served by the majority of local bus services, and is just round the corner from Parliament Street where popular stores like M&S and Browns are located.

St Sampsons Digital Cafe runs on the fourth Tuesday of every month, from 10am-12pm, with free digital inclusion support ranging from the Databank to a space to ask any questions about using your devices or getting connected.
And we're not done yet! We're already working to open our sixth Digital Cafe in York, bringing face-to-face digital inclusion support even closer for York residents. Our Digital Cafes have also allowed more York residents to join our Volunteering team, giving back to the local community whilst also allowing them to develop new skills. We're always on the look out for more volunteers to join our dedicated team - to find out more visit our Volunteering page.

Our Digital Cafes have supported residents from setting up email addresses, providing free mobile phone data to allow residents to stay connected, to even removing unwanted browser addons from laptops.

No questions is too big or too small for our volunteers - we'd love to see you! Pop down, speak to one of our friendly volunteers, and discover how we can support you in getting online.
