Getting the £150 Council Tax Rebate Scheme

York City Council have been working to process payments for the Council Tax Rebate Scheme with over 50,000 payments having been made and arrived in residents’ bank accounts by Tuesday 10th May.

Why am I still awaiting my payment?

You have only just signed up to Direct Debit, and have only had your first instalment taken on or after 15 May 2022
A mismatch between the name on your bank account and the name of the eligible party on your council tax account - this may be due to your account not being updated after a name change, or a spelling error
What should I do if I still don’t have my payment or I don’t use Direct Debit?

If your payment has not been received, or if you don’t pay by direct debit, you will need to apply for the Council Tax £150 Energy Rebate Scheme online.

If you cannot fill out the online application form, get in touch with the Digital City team who will be able to support you through a face-to-face meeting or telephone call.

Be Scam Aware

There are numerous scams circulating around the Council Tax Rebate Scheme, and it’s super important to double check before you disclose personal information online or via the phone.
Do not reply if you get a text message claiming to be from HMRC offering you a tax refund in exchange for personal or financial details. Do not open any links in the message. Send any phishing text messages to 60599 (network charges apply) or email phishing@hmrc.gov.uk then delete it.
