Happy Scratch Week!
Scratch Week is a global celebration of Scratch that takes place from 15 to 21 May this year. Below, we’ve put together some free resources to help get kids coding with this easy-to-use, block-based programming language.

Scratch is a programming language we use at York CoderDojo and also York Pi Jam, providing younger people with the beginning steps to getting started with programming.

Explore Scratch projects
For kids who feel ready to move beyond the basics of Scratch this Scratch Week, our tutorials and projects offer many projects that further enhance kids’ coding skills as they explore, design, and invent.

You can find these tutorials on the York CoderDojo and York Pi Jam website.

The Raspberry Pi Foundation also have many Scratch resources on their website, alongside the official Scratch website.

Discover young people’s Scratch creations
On the official Scratch website you can check out other creations from other users, and you can remix them to make them your own! If you also attend any York Pi Jam or York CoderDojo sessions, you can collaborate with others on your projects. By saving them onto your Scratch account, created with permission from parents/guardians depending on your age, you can continue them at home!

If you’re a parent looking for more coding activities to share with your kids, you can sign up to our parent-focused newsletter.

We hope you enjoy exploring these resources during Scratch Week.
